May 19, 2012, will be the date for our annual Shrimpfest @ Shawnee Winery.
The party will start around 1 PM and will be kickin til we run out of beer!!!
Shawnee has a great selection of wine and the sangria is to die for
(yes I can speak from experience) and they also have beer.
We will have shrimp and burgers so just bring your lawn chairs and
kids are welcome. Also this is not a “club exclusive” event so
bring friends and family! The more the merrier!!!
This year will be marked as a memorial for
“Gumbo Ron” Ron Bertrand who passed away about a year ago.
He played at this phlocking every year and had his own unique
trop rock flair! He is certainly missed and so we decided to
dedicate this years gathering in his honor.
So come help us celebrate a great man and his music!!!

Interesting Margarita Facts:

  • As a Guinness Book Record holder in 2001, Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville in Orlando held a 9 year record for the largest Margarita ever concocted at an astounding 7038 gallons
  • On average, Americans consume 185,000 margaritas per hour
  • Over 4 million margaritas are served annually in Margaritaville restaurants
  • At Margaritaville, Margaritas ‘on the rocks’ beat out their frozen sibling 60/40
  • The Margaritaville way to drink a Margarita, Salt always beats out No Salt
  • Margaritaville Las Vegas sells more Margaritas than any other Margaritaville location with an estimated 1 million Margarita’s served annually
  • The first frozen margarita machine was invented in 1971 using  soft-serve ice cream machine technology.  In 2006, Margaritaville  debuted  The Frozen Concoction Maker, introducing shave and blend technology to  home users.

The basic Margarita comprises 3 oz. tequila, 2 oz. Triple Sec and 1 oz. fresh lime. You make it as follows.

  • Take a lime slice and rub it around the rim of a cocktail glass so that salt will stick to it, take glass and rub rim in salt.
  • Pour seven parts of tequila, four of Triple Sec and three of lemon / lime juice into a shaker filled with ice cubes and shake vigorously for fifteen seconds.
  • Carefully pour the mixed drink into a glass being careful not to catch any salt on the rim.
  • Enjoy.

As you can see, there’s not much to it!
